ABOUT THE PLUNGE

Lexington PlungeThe Polar Plunge is Special Olympics Kentucky’s biggest and COOLest fundraiser of the year. Brrrrrave Polar Bears in six cities raise a BEAR minimum of $75 ($50 for junior Polar Bears) to earn the right to take a dip into an chilly body of water just as winter starts to wind to a close.

Polar Bears who raise more than the $75 minimum can win great fundraising prizes.

Feb. 4 – Greater Cincinnati Plunge; Joe’s Crab Shack-Bellevue
Feb. 18 – Lexington Polar Plunge; Texas Roadhouse, Richmond Rd.
Feb. 18 – Western Ky. Polar Plunge & Polar 5k; Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park
Feb. 25 – Lake Cumberland Polar Plunge; Conley Bottom Marina-Monticello
Feb. 25 – Louisville Polar Plunge; Brown-Forman Amphitheater in Waterfront Park

Shiverin ShamrocksTaking the Plunge is just part of the fun on Plunge day. Each of the events opens with a wild parade of costumed Polar Bears, with the best group and individual costumes winning the coveted Golden Plunger award. Once again the Western Kentucky Plunge will feature a 5k run/walks to go along with the Plunge. There are prizes at each Plunge for the top fundraising corporate, school and law enforcement teams and for the top individual fundraiser and top fundraising team.

All money raised at the Polar Plunge goes to support Special Olympics Kentucky (and Ohio for the Greater Cincinnati Plunge in Bellevue) sports, health, early childhood and community building programs.
